BCT PHASES

RECEPTION BATTALION (WEEK ZERO)

Known as Week Zero, this first step sets you up to succeed in BCT. During Week Zero, you'll process all paperwork, get your uniform, and get a preview of BCT.

RED PHASE (WEEKS 1-3)

The most demanding phase where you'll learn basic soldier skills, drill and ceremony, first aid, and begin physical training under the guidance of your drill sergeant.

WHITE PHASE (WEEKS 4-6)

Weapons training begins. You'll learn marksmanship fundamentals, qualify with your rifle, and continue building strength and endurance.

BLUE PHASE (WEEKS 7-10)

The final phase includes field training exercises, confidence courses, and culminating events that test everything you've learned.

AFTER BASIC: ADVANCED INDIVIDUAL TRAINING

After BCT, your life in the military begins. Advanced Individual Training (AIT) will teach you what you need to know to do your specific job (also called your Military Occupational Specialty or MOS).
